(Ofcom's media literacy work includes research, connecting and partnering with stakeholders and looking at the place of labelling content to enable viewers and listeners to make informed choices. Ofcom's definition of media literacy is 'the ability to access, understand and create communications in a variety of contexts'. In an increasingly converged communications world, people face greater media choice. Media literacy provides some of the tools people will need to make full use of the opportunities offered, to manage their expectations and to protect themselves and their families from the risks involved. There are many stakeholders who have a key role to play in the promotion of media literacy skills, knowledge and understanding in both children and adults, including content producers, broadcasters, educators and government departments. Ofcom's role is to provide leadership and leverage to promote media literacy. In this session, we will talk about the work we have done to date, including research and the stakeholders with whom we are engaged in Scotland. Speaker: Robin Blake, Media Literacy Manager at Ofcom)
